The Annies are keeping it local once again as we officially welcome DeKalb High School’s own Zachariah Murray to the 2026 roster.

Known on the pitch as "Zach," this 18-year-old Center Defensive Midfielder is a familiar face to soccer fans in the area, coming off a strong comeback campaign that saw him overcome injury to dominate the local high school circuit.
Zach was drawn to DKCU by the club's elite competitive culture and the chance to learn from a coaching staff he describes as "amazing soccer minds." He isn't just here to fill a spot; he's here to compete at the highest level possible while representing his hometown.
"My freshman high school coach, Coach Macintosh, had the biggest influence on me," Zach shared. "He’s the best coach I’ve played under and completely changed my mentality on the game."
That shift in mentality is exactly what Zach brings to the United midfield. While he’s currently focused on hitting the books and staying disciplined in his studies, his "no-nonsense" approach on the field is what fans will notice first. When he isn't training or grabbing a burger at Culver’s, he’s likely cooling off in the AC with some video games or catching a Fulham or Chicago Fire match.
Fans at the NIU Soccer Stadium can expect total commitment from Zach this summer. He’s promised a season of high-intensity running and a relentless drive to move the ball forward.
Welcome to the United, Zach!
