Building the Game from the Ground Up: Honoring Kevin Toedter in the 2026 DeKalb County Soccer Hall of Fame

Great local soccer doesn't just happen on its own; it takes absolute legends working behind the scenes to build it.  

At DeKalb County United, we love the game on the pitch, but we know none of it exists without the grassroots roots planted right here in our backyard. That is why we are beyond thrilled to announce Kevin Toedter as an inductee into the 2026 DeKalb County Soccer Hall of Fame. For over a decade, Kevin has poured his heart into local youth soccer, turning early Saturday mornings and endless volunteer hours into a thriving community culture. 

DeKalb County United proudly inducts Kevin Toedter into the 2026 DeKalb County Soccer Hall of Fame, celebrating 13 years of dedication to local youth soccer. 

When you talk about grassroots soccer in DeKalb County, Kevin’s impact is everywhere you look. For 13 years, he served as a cornerstone of Sycamore AYSO. What started as a dad stepping up to support his own kids quickly turned into a massive commitment to every family in the program.  

To say Kevin volunteered is an understatement; he ran the operation with the care and hustle of a second full-time job. Weekdays were filled with home deliveries of uniform kits, coaching bags, and equipment stacks. Weekends meant setting up fields before sunrise, organizing match days, and blowing the whistle as a referee whenever a pitch needed coverage.  

Yet his biggest win was how he brought people together. Kevin built a supportive network of volunteer coaches and pioneered teen referee development programs, giving local kids the confidence to lead on and off the field. He poured countless hours into building a system that continues to thrive today.  

We invite all our DKCU family, former AYSO players, and local sports fans to join us as we honor Kevin’s induction.

Building community through soccer is at the heart of everything we do at DKCU. Honoring pioneers like Kevin reminds us where we came from and inspires the next generation of players taking the pitch at NIU Soccer Stadium.
