The Annies’ defense is getting a major boost of continuity and Division I experience as a familiar face returns to the NIU Soccer Stadium. DeKalb County United is thrilled to announce that Batavia native and Eastern Illinois University (EIU) defender Nate Hagemann is back for the 2026 campaign.

Having previously suited up for United, Nate’s return brings a level of familiarity and leadership that is invaluable in a summer season. His ability to read the game from the center back position or provide a physical presence on the flanks has made him a reliable asset for the coaching staff.
For Nate, the decision to spend another summer in DeKalb was driven by the quality of the setup and the people involved. "I love the atmosphere of the training sessions," Nate noted. "It’s a great coaching staff and a group of guys that really care about building the program." That shared commitment to progress is exactly what has made Nate such a perfect fit for the DKCU culture.
"Fans can expect me to always give 100%."
Nate comes into the 2026 season following another strong year of growth at EIU, where he has consistently tested himself against top-tier competition, including memorable shifts against programs like Northwestern. That battle-tested mentality—pushed by the lifelong influence of his father—is what fans have come to expect every time he steps onto the pitch.
When he isn't anchoring the backline, Nate stays sharp with long runs and values the downtime spent with his family. Fueled by his go-to pre-match steak and a lifelong passion for Manchester United, he is ready to lead the charge for the Annies once again.
Welcome back to the family, Nate!
