Pathri, Nepal native and NIU club standout Monoj Chuwan joins DeKalb County United for 2026. A hyper-competitive midfielder ready to bring tireless work rate to the Annies.

Originally from Pathri, Nepal , Monoj has established deep roots in the local Illinois soccer community, making a name for himself as an incredibly versatile, high-impact playmaker.

When it came to deciding where to play his summer football, United’s leadership made it an easy choice. "I chose DKCU because of the coaches and the club culture," Monoj shared.

That culture is a perfect match for Monoj's intense, victory-first mindset. He operates with a fierce competitive edge that dates back to the absolute foundational moments of his athletic journey.

"I will never forget when I lost my first soccer game and how much I hated that feeling. That drive has stuck with me ever since."

If you followed Monoj for a day, you might have a tough time keeping up with his speed, both on and off the pitch. Beyond his relentless training schedule, he is a massive pickleball enthusiast and loves to travel whenever a window opens up. That same tireless work ethic translates directly to his off-field ambitions; Monoj is actively developing his business acumen with long-term goals of launching and owning multiple corporate ventures.

On matchdays at the NIU Soccer Stadium, fans can expect a player modeled after the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo in work rate, combined with a deep appreciation for the tactical balance of his favorite club, Manchester United. He credits his parents as his biggest lifelong influences, shaping the person and competitor he is today.

When it's time to refuel after a grueling 90 minutes, Chinese food is his absolute go-to day in and day out. To match that undeniable "win-at-all-costs" energy, we've officially locked in his walkout anthem, "All I Do Is Win" by DJ Khaled, directly into the 2026 Pre-Game Playlist.

Welcome to the United family, Monoj!
