The Annies are adding some serious firepower to the frontline for the 2026 season. DeKalb County United is proud to officially announce the signing of Rochelle native and Waubonsee Community College winger Makayla Lara.

Makayla arrives in DeKalb with a reputation for finding the back of the net. She made history in her hometown by breaking the all-time career goals record at Rochelle Township High School, a milestone she cites as the most unforgettable moment of her soccer journey so far. Now, she’s bringing that clinical finishing and high-speed play to the NIU Soccer Stadium.
The transition to United was an easy choice for Makayla, who was drawn in by the club's reputation for player development. "DKCU has an amazing coaching staff and the environment is great," she shared.
"Fans can expect a clinical edge and high energy from Makayla this summer."
When she isn't stretching opposing defenses, Makayla is likely getting into the zone with her go-to anthem "All the Stars" by Kendrick Lamar and SZA. Expect that same superstar energy when she hits the pitch.
Welcome to the United family, Makayla!
