Back in the Backline: Hannah Hickman Returns for 2026

The Annies are locking down the defense for the upcoming season with a familiar face. DeKalb County United is thrilled to announce that Batavia native and Eastern Illinois University (EIU) centerback Hannah Hickman is returning to the club for 2026.

After a standout performance last summer, Hannah—known to many as "Han"—didn't hesitate to pull the green and yellow kit back on. "I chose DKCU again because I had a really good experience last summer," Hannah said. "The training was fun but still competitive, and I felt like I actually improved my skills. I love the coaches and the overall environment."

A Division I talent at EIU, Hannah brings elite composure and physical presence to the center back position. She cites her commitment to the Panthers as a defining moment in her soccer journey, but it’s her parents who remain her biggest influence, teaching her the "hard work and determination" required to balance life as a high-level student-athlete.

When she’s not anchoring the defense at the NIU Soccer Stadium, Hannah’s perfect summer evening is a DeKalb County dream: swimming, heading out to dinner with friends, and capping the night off with a bonfire. And for the pre-game fuel? It’s avocado toast every single day.
