Rockford native and Marian University centerback Avery Coyle joins DeKalb County United for 2026. A physical defender bringing "hard tackles" to the Annies' backline.

Avery makes the move to DeKalb with a focus on high-level development. When asked why he chose to wear the green and yellow, Avery pointed directly to the "competitive environment and coaching" as the deciding factors. He’s a player who thrives in intense settings, making him a perfect fit for the culture we’ve built at the NIU Soccer Stadium.

A standout defender with a background at both Kishwaukee College and Marian, Avery describes his style of play in two words: Hard Tackles. He credits his father for his relentless approach to the game, citing him as his biggest influence for showing him exactly where "hard work and determination" can lead.

"Fans can expect hard tackles and 100% effort every time I'm on the pitch."

If you followed Avery for a day, you might be surprised by his primary focus off the field: food. Specifically, a perfect summer evening for him involves hunting down great food with friends, ideally some authentic Peruvian cuisine, which he says he could eat every single day and never get tired of.

Avery is ready to anchor the backline and set the tone with his physical play this summer. We’ve added his go-to track, "Y Not?" by Lucki, to the 2026 Pre-Game Playlist to keep that energy high during warmups.

Welcome to the United family, Avery!
