Cedar Rapids Inferno SC are based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League.
The Rapids are the latest attempt to bring soccer to the area. Most recently, the CR Rampage had a short-lived presence in the MASL, whilst there was also a club going by the name of CR Rampage United briefly in the PLA. American soccer is great, no?
President and Head Coach is Kenan Malicevic, who moved to the US from Bosnia in 2005 as a teenager, and played professionally in both Poland and Bosnia. Kenan was a part of the Union Dubuque squad team that visited us last season, and we like to think that we gave him the inspiration to set up on his own!
They opened their season last weekend with a hard-earned 2-2 against the aforementioned Union Dubuque, and will make for a tough home opener for the Greens.
