I want to take a moment to thank our community for their support over the first half of the 2023 season. Our men's and women's teams are in full gear now and there is a lot of soccer left to play and trophies left to win!
We do send out surveys after each match to get your feedback so I want to address some of the feedback received lately...
1. We are working with Sodexo (NIU) to improve the match experience at concessions. We do staff the stand, but inventory and the cashless system is out of our control. The Sodexo team has been outstanding in responding to our growth, and we're darn proud that we're seeing attendances about 40% larger than a year ago so the growing pains are real. Nevertheless we're adjusting so hopefully that portion of the experience is better as soon as this Saturday. (5pm kickoff!)
2. Some fans prefer a quieter experience away from smoke bombs. We get that and we have spoken to our friends at Local 815 (independent supporters group) and they are trying to read the wind to keep the smoke away from fans who may have health concerns or be annoyed. Also we encourage those who don't like the noise to walk to the farthest end of the stands to minimize the interruption. The final 10 mins of the match will be chaotic as the kids get on the track as we push our players to a win!
I wanted to also thank all of you....We broke an attendance record! Our previous record of 523 was set way back in our inaugural season of 2018. We waited five long years to get back to those levels and we crushed it last week with 619! Thanks to all who shared, posted, promoted, and advocated for the club and the experience. Hopefully those "non soccer people" find the fun in it!
We are trying to build one of the greatest sports entertainment experiences in the country and we can't do that without all of you. So keep telling your friends, keep bringing new people and continue to tell us what you like and what you don't. It's YOUR club.
See you all soon!
