Club Unveils New Sporting Director

Dekalb County United has announced the appointment of Eric Luzzi as the club's first ever Sporting Director, effective immediately.

Luzzi is an A Licensed coach, former NIU Men's Head Coach and currently serves as Technical Director/Director of Player Development at Arlington Aces Soccer Club. He lives in DeKalb with his wife, son and pup.

Speaking exclusively to Dekalb County, Luzzi said

“I want to thank President John Hall and the rest of the staff at DKCU for this opportunity. I’ve always been impressed with how this club is run, and now I’m truly excited to be able to play a part in the club’s success on the field. I look forward to working with our coaching staff, current and future players, and club board to continue to build a team that will represent the best of what DKCU stands for as a club.”

Luzzi will be working with coaches across all teams to evaluate talent, assist with recruiting, player development and systems of play. He will also be playing a pivotal role in the search for a new First Team head coach. Most importantly, Luzzi will provide qualified leadership and support to both coaches and players, allowing President Hall to shift his focu to other initiatives within the club.

Dekalb County United President John Hall said:

We are happy to have Luzzi join our staff as our first Sporting Director. As we've grown as a club to three teams, we identified the need for additional oversight in our soccer operations. This is not a strength of the current board so finding someone to lead the technical staff was critical to our evolution as a club. Luzzi brings a dynamic skill-set with his coaching and administrative leadership experience. He understands the importance of having a vision as a club as well as a strong culture within our organization.
We look forward to working with him as we build a program that can develop future professionals and compete for trophies.
